The first face-to-face volunteer camp since the onset of the pandemic was held last October 22-23, 2022 at the Bahay ng Pahinungód, UPLB. A total of 38 UPLB constituents–students and staff, completed the two-day camp facilitated by senior and alumni volunteers.
The first day began with teambuilding activities to build trust and create bond among the participants. Each activity was integrated with challenges intended to test the potential volunteers’ physical, mental, and emotional limits and capacities without making them feel inferior. Each activity has a corresponding element essential for teamwork.
The afternoon session focused on the discussion of basic facilitation and project management. The participants were taught of the teaching approaches and framework used by Pahinungód, as well as the fundamentals of organizing training for development. Assignments were given to be presented the following day.
The second day of the camp started with a discussion of the various types, uses, and methods for designing group dynamics, as well as the basic ethics and conflict management in community relations. The camp ended with a presentation of the participants’ assignments and a closing remark.
Finishers of the two-day camp are already considered Pahinungód volunteers. They are given the opportunity to learn more in Pahinungód and choose any program they want to participate in and be part of. (Melanie C. Ilang-Ilang)
