Pahinungod assists in the UP Novo Ecijanos' RECET

Twenty two members of the UP Novo Ecijanos (UPNE) and seven Pahinungod volunteers participated in this year’s Annual Review for College Entrance Tests and Career Orientation Program (RECET) last July 13-14, 2013 at Honorato C. Perez Sr. Memorial Science High School, Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija.

More than 300 incoming fourth year high school students from nearby public high schools attended the two day tutorials. The tutorials aimed at improving chances of students from underserved schools to access quality education in UP and in other reputable colleges and universities in the country.

The activity was headed by UPNE RECET Project head Nathalene P. Fabrigas. UPLB Pahinungod through AAP coordinator Limbay Espaldon of Pahinungod tapped faculty, student and alumni volunteers as resource persons. The UPLB faculty included: Febelyn Reguyal (CEAT-DES), Pamela Custodio (CDC), John Mervin Embate (CAS-DHum), Jericho Alcantara (CEAT-ChE), Butch Batalelr (CEAT-ChE) and Elgin Gabriel (CAS-IC). UPLB CEAT alumnus Engr. Clyde Angelo Bisares and CEAT-EE student Dave Bermudo also served as tutors.

Pahinungod and Novo Ecijanos are currently exploring possible expansion of the RECET given it has similar objectives with Pahinungod’s AAP.
